Bolton School, an independent day school, on Chorley New Road, comprises a co-educational nuresery, co-educational infant school, single sex junior schools and single sex senior schools including sixth forms, it is one of the largest independent day schools in the country.

Sports & Leisure

Football club Bolton Wanderers play homes games at the Macron Stadium and there are many sports, leisure centres and golf courses within easy reach offering a huge variety of sports to suit all tastes.

Cultural interests and entertainment venues include the Albert Hall and Octagon Theatres and the Bolton Museum and Art Gallery which hosts an excellent collection of Egyptian artefacts and the only public aquarium in Greater Manchester, as well as one of the earliest public libraries established after the Public Libraries Act 1850. Other museums in the town include Hall I'th' Wood, Smithills Hall and Bolton Steam Museum.

The main shopping centres in Bolton town centre are Market Place which incorporates the renovated Victorian Market Hall and Crompton Place. The town also boasts an award-wining market with over 300 stalls, this is situated on Ashburner Street, market days are Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Middlebrook Retail Park on the outskirts of the town is one of the biggest and best shopping parks in the UK.
